Camp Lurecrest Ministries

Executive Director Jerry Martin and Campers

Executive Staff

Jerry and Charlotte Martin

Jerry Martin, Executive Director

Charlotte Martin, Director of Staff Development

Jerry Martin was the Chairman of the Board of Trustees when he felt the Lord call him to full-time service with Camp Lurecrest. In June of 1997 he took over the office of President & Executive Director of Camp Lurecrest Ministries, Inc. With the recent addition of Jeremy White as Camp Director, Jerry will oversee all Camp operations as its Executive Director.  A primary role for Jerry in 2007 will be overseeing the development of the new Emmaus School of Biblical Studies

When Jerry moved from 'secular' work to a full-time position with Camp in 1997, Charlotte also accepted the position of Director of Staff DevelopmentHer excellence, wisdom, sound biblical judgment, and gentle disposition has been invaluable as the Holy Spirit has used her to put the finest young people possible on the Mountain each year to care for the campers.  Without contradiction, one of the defining characteristics of our ministry has been the excellence of each individual staff, and their dedication to the Lord Jesus.

Jerry and Charlotte came to Camp Lurecrest as campers in the first years of its opening. They grew up together, several blocks apart, near church and attended elementary and high school together. They began dating in high school in 1959.  Jerry will tell you quickly that Charlotte is the only girl he ever loved and is thankful every day that the Lord gave her to him! (If you know them personally, you can imagine what Charlotte says about Jerry!)

Jerry and Charlotte were married on August 3, 1963 at Garr Memorial Church in Charlotte, NC. As a blessing of their long and committed marriage, they have three children and three grandchildren. Jerry was ordained into the ministry on March 3, 2003 by Rev. David McGuirt, at Covenant Church of Harrisburg, NC.

Jerry and Charlotte were involved in counseling and discipleship of college age and young adults before they came to Lurecrest. Jerry’s business background includes experience in both sales and management and in running his own business before being called to Lurecrest.

Jerry’s and Charlotte’s hearts have been captured by God’s grace in the great Gospel of Jesus Christ, and they team together to teach and live out the implications of Christ’s work FOR us, the Holy Spirit’s work IN us, and the Holy Spirit’s work THROUGH us.

Jeremy, Lindsay & Keller White,

Camp Director

Although Jeremy White has faithfully served Camp for many years and in many capacities, he has now been chosen by God to be the next Camp Director.  Jeremy will be coming to us in a full-time capacity in 2007 (having served part-time for part of 2006), after spending the past 11 years working as a CPA.  We already see God’s grace and anointing on his life and ministry.  Join me in thanksgiving for Jeremy and Lindsay, Keller, and little Coleman.

Nate and Amy Larson

Nate, Amy & Noah Larson

Director of Maintenance

Nate originally came to Camp Lurecrest in 1997 and served on Staff as the Director of Male Counselor Development.  He stayed for 3 years before marrying his lovely wife, Amy, and living/working close to family in Minnesota. However, they returned to join us full time with their 5 year-old son, Noah, on April 1st of 2006.  Nate brings a vast amount of knowledge and experience that is vital for Camp Lurecrest as we move into the next phase of ministry God has for us!

nathan shuttlesworth - director of food services

Nathan Shuttlesworth

Director of Food Services

Nathan came on board full-time in the Fall of 2005, eventually serving not only in the summer months, but all year long for our retreats, work-groups and our 9-month Bible school.  What God did in bringing this young man to us is astounding and wonderful.  His Mother, Marian Shuttlesworth, and her 3 sisters, the Morgan sisters, were both campers and staff, serving in the kitchen with Meryle.  This was all unknown when Nathan applied for a staff position in the Winter/Spring of ’05.  He is highly skilled, formally trained and one of the finest chefs in this part of the country.  We are grateful to God for Nathan and also grateful for our 2006 “100%/Rating” on our State Health Department Certificate!
