Dragon boat racing is the fastest growing water sport in the world! It’s a sport for both the young and old, the occasional calorie burner, or the weekend warrior. All teams will have a chance to learn and practice the basics of paddling a dragon boat the week before race day. It’s very similar to paddling a canoe, but ten people paddle while one teammate is beating out a cadence on the dragon drum. Sounds like fun? It is!
Form a team or come and watch! Proceeds of the festival go primarily towards Camp Lurecrest in our attempt to reach out to the children in the greater Lake Lure area, so your involvement isn't just fun, it is impactful in the lives of many children!
